did you read what the poster write? his or her family is in KL. you never answer any of his or her questions but only ask so many questions.
well, although i am not from batu pahat, i can help answer some of your questions. anyhow, i have no idea on how batu pahat look like before you left on 1997. for me, it just one small and boring town. if you have no relative or friends here, nothing really worth you to come back to visit. or maybe when you become older, you can still come back to batu pahat to catch back some old memories.
oh yes, there is one so called "bintang walk", but never try to imagine it's something like KL bintang walk, else you will be much disappointed.

helo, i am from batu pahat. batu pahat is not a very good flourish city. but still ok. imagine in KL , all people rush time. but in here ur life is quite relax. no traffic jam. yah! we ony have traffic jam in chinese new year. imagine that every time you go to work need to waste time in traffic jam. very pity o! once you back from work also jammed. so whole day just spend in traffic. so tired! so batu pahat, all people just relax. no need rush this or that. yes we have BP walk, on weekend a lot of people will be there gathering or seeking boy or girl. then our road also have some decorations, not as before dont have anthing. but u know lah, malay government they like flower, and green light. so of course our road have some green light, even tree also. hahaaa.... quite funny..
