Gunung Ledang Recreational ForestAbout Gunung Ledang Recreational Forest
Mount Ophir or Gunung Ledang as it is known to locals is rich in folklore, the most famous being it's the home of the legendary Princess 'Puteri Gunung Ledang' once wooed by the Sultan of Malacca.
Situated 1,276m above sea level and 38km northeast the town of Muar, it is the highest mountain in Johor, sharing with the State of Malacca on the north side.
There are tracks leading to the summit of Gunung Ledang and it is favoured by local mountaineers in search of excitement and adventure. With crystal clear river waters and breathtaking waterfalls, the unspoiled environment beckons the visitor. The waterfalls at the foot of the mountain are popular picnic sports for families and school children. Various amenities like rest sheds, dressing rooms, camping sites, food stalls and car parks are provided here.
