Introduction of Batu Pahat


Batu Pahat, Second major town only to Johor Bahru, this rapidly expanding town is also considered as the textile capital of Malaysia. Batu Pahat in the fourteenth century was an important waterway during the Malacca Sultanate. The Famous well Perigi (well) Batu Pahat from which the town derived its name. Batu Pahat is a regional business and conference center that is famous for its Chinese cuisine. It is also a favorite resting place for road travelers. It still retains a semblance of old world atmosphere, especially in its buildings which reflect their Asian influences and culture which meld harmoniously into this busy, fast paced town. Its becoming an increasingly popular conference venue and regional business centre. A favourite resting place with road travelers, a brief stop here should give you a chance to taste a wide range of fruits, groundnuts and other local delicacies as well as to buy souvenirs and curios. . There are a few notable buildings, such as the Art Deco's mosque and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce building.
